I've been a musician all my life. When I started performing violin at wedding ceremonies with Dream City Strings, I noticed something:
Live music changed everything.
It caused couples' walks down the aisle to be a tearful moment that they, their families and their guests will remember for the rest of their lives.
Then one day, I went to a jazz club (The Jazz Estate on Cramer St) and met one of my musical heroes: Anthony Deutsch.
His Jazz Trio was playing jazz standards – and as I was enjoying my Old Fashioned, my toes started tapping (and so were everyone else's in the club).
A few months later, I heard his trio again, this time they were playing their version of the famous Charlie Brown Christmas album by Vince Guaraldi. And I was hooked.
I knew that the couples I worked with, their families and their guests would LOVE having a live jazz trio at their cocktail hour and reception, so I met up with Anthony and proposed that he become the Music Director of Dream City Jazz.
He said YES! And we formed Dream City Jazz – we brought together the top jazz musicians in Milwaukee to bring the jazz club vibe to your wedding. And we promise you and your guests will love it.
So how do we do this for your event? Easy: start by getting a quote. After that, with a few clicks, you’ll secure your date with a contract and deposit. Next, we’ll collaborate on your event and make sure it’s unforgettable.

What instruments are in a jazz trio?
Our jazz trio has a piano, a drumset and an upgright bass. This is our recommended format simply because it provides the best possible sound.
What does the booking process look like?
Your first step is to book a free consultation. After you decide we’re a good fit for your event, we’ll send you a digital contract. Once you sign the digital contract, you’ll be prompted for a 25% deposit. Once we receive your signed contract and 25% deposit, your date is secure and we start planning out your music.
How far in advance should we book the trio?
We encourage you to book as early as is feasible since the majority of spring and fall weekend dates book up rather quickly. As a general rule, we recommend booking at least 6 months prior to the date of your event. We reserve dates on a “first come, first served” basis.
Are your rates negotiable?
Due to the high caliber musician we use (which prevents any wedding mishaps due to any issues caused by inexperience), our musicians expect a certain level of payment. Our rates are non-negotiable, but be on the lookout for any promotions we are currently running!
Do you charge more to play both the ceremony and cocktail hour?
Yes. The first reason we charge extra is that the musicians will be spending more time preparing additional music as well as spending more time on-site during your event. Additionally, playing a ceremony requires a different (more-robust) skillset than a cocktail hour, so we compensate our musicians accordingly.
Do you play outdoors?
Yes. Our only concerns are the safety of the instruments and the ability to provide quality music. This means that we must be in full shade (especially in the summer), and there must be no precipitation.
